Time to replace your Android Wear watch straps? Here are some fantastic (and affordable) options

For those of you not keeping track, it’s been a little over a year since the Moto 360 2nd Gen first came onto the scene. As someone who appreciates the level of convenience smartwatches offer (honestly, they’re great), few are the days where I’d leave the house without wearing the Moto 360 on my wrist.

When I first received the watch, the Horween leather straps were both comfortable, thick, and high quality. Today, that’s much different. Time has definitely taken its toll on the straps and after 15 months, countless hand washings, and a record breaking summer heat, the straps are now cracked, warped, and yes, even a little smelly. It was finally time to retire my straps and replace them with some fresh new bands.

There are plenty of options to choose from, but after digging around through Amazon, I came across these wonderful silicone straps from Barton. With nearly perfect reviews from thousands of happy customers, Barton has made quite a name for themselves.

Barton’s silicone straps come in multiple sizes — 18mm, 20mm, or 22mm — and feature quick release pins (just like the original Horween leather straps) to snap them on or off, no extra tools required. Just make sure you’re getting the correct size for your specific smartwatch.

For those of you anal about matching your accessories with your outfit, quick release pins are an absolute godsend as you can work on building out an army of different colors and materials.

The straps offered come in a variety of colors and the silicone features a sort of textured pattern underneath. I’m guessing this helps keep the straps from sliding around your wrist and/or from pulling arm hair (something a half-Yeti like myself can appreciate). If you’re doing a lot of working out in them, they can build up grime over time, but it’s nothing a little alcohol and paper towel can’t wipe off to get them good as new again.

Although I, personally, prefer the more hygienic nature of silicone, Barton also offers leather straps that come in a wide array of earth tones — all with the quick release pins. Although I haven’t been able to try out any of these yet, they’re already on my Christmas wish list. If you care about the little details, you can even switch out the color of the buckle for another $8.

So, whether you’re looking to grab some for yourself, a loved one, or place them on a wish list, these replacement watch straps are the perfect match for your Moto 360, ASUS ZenWatch, or just about any other Android Wear smartwatch you might already own.
