What happens when Amazon Echo and Google Home talk to each other? [VIDEO]

I woke up to this video sitting in my lap and it is downright hilarious (or maybe a little sad depending on who you are). A YouTuber by the name of Adam Jakowenko decided to hook up an Amazon Echo (the Dot variant, specifically) and a Google Home next to each other to see if they could talk to each other.

Spoiler: they can! Well, sort of, anyway. You see, Adam set up a calendar event on each device with titles consisting of the other devices’ wake-up and calendar event commands. The result is an endless loop of each one reading tomorrow’s calendar entry to each other. They might well go on forever if that calendar entry was a repeating one!

As funny as this is, I think humor takes a backseat to peace of mind in this scenario. If these two peas in a pod will spend all evening barking out calendar entries to each other without a second thought, it’s safe to say they’re not smart enough to start organizing a scary robot uprising. Well, not yet, at least. Video’s above!
