One of Samsung’s big selling points for the Samsung Gear S3 was the fact that Samsung Pay could work with any Android phone with Android 4.4 KitKat or higher. That sounded great, until it wasn’t totally true.
Some have found that the functionality does not work with Google’s Pixel phones, which is especially damning considering those are some of the purest Android phones available right now. Why in heaven’s name wouldn’t they work?
Samsung isn’t keen on going into specifics right now, though the company has left open hope that future support will arrive as they said they are working on adding more devices. Samsung Pay on the Gear S3 does indeed work with many non-Samsung Android devices right now, including the LG V20, so it’s out there. It’s just a matter of Samsung dotting all their Is and crossing all their Ts to make sure everyone can use it.
