According to a new report from Adobe, this year’s Black Friday set a new record by surpassing the $3 billion dollar mark for the first time in history. Shoppers spent a whopping $3.34 million dollars on Black Friday and it was the first day in retail history that over a billion dollars was spent on mobile devices. $1.2 billion dollars in mobile revenue stacked up this year for a 33% year over year growth from last year.
So what were shoppers going crazy over this year? According to the report, the five top-selling electronic products were:
- Apple iPad
- Samsung 4K TV
- Apple MacBook Air
- LG TV
- Xbox One
The majority of visits to websites for Black Friday came from mobile devices, with 55% in total. That number can further be broken down into 45% of traffic coming from smartphones, while only 10% came from tablets. Mobile traffic was up for most retail websites and sales didn’t lag behind either.
The report states 36% of all sales this Black Friday were made using a mobile device, with 25% coming from smartphones and 11% coming from tablets. This year’s growth of sales on mobile devices has led to a large explosion in traffic for retailers who are invested in offering their products online. Those who engaged with their customers through email, social media, and advertising saw 30% more sales than retailers who didn’t.
Another interesting piece of information in the report revealed that on average, iOS users spend about $142 on Black Friday while Android users spend about $130.
