We are continuing to see more information revealed about the upcoming release of the Samsung Galaxy S8. Earlier today, we saw reports that Samsung’s new AI personal assistant would allow users to make mobile payments using voice commands, and this latest rumor gives us an idea as to what will be powering the device.
According to BGR, the Galaxy S8 will come in two different sizes and will feature 6GB of RAM with 256GB of storage. Additionally, the device may be the first to be released featuring Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 835 processor. This new processor was announced earlier this month and Qualcomm is claiming it will be 40% more power efficient compared to the Snapdragon 821.
The Snapdragon 835 also provides Quick Charge 4.0 which is based on USB Type-C and will charge devices 20% faster than its predecessor. Samsung is also rumored to be packing in a new wireless charging capability which will provide even faster wireless charging than what was available in the company’s 2016 flagships.
It’s unknown whether the Galaxy S8 will feature a microSD card slot, but if these rumors surrounding the device come to fruition, Samsung could change the game. The Galaxy S8 is shaping up to be another home-run which is something that Samsung is severely in need of after the well-documented Galaxy Note 7 debacle.
