The new Developer Preview for Android 7.1 on the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X

0

After the Pixel and Pixel XL were released with Android 7.1 Nougat, owners of the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X were wondering when they would be getting the latest version of Android. Google didn’t disappoint and released the first developer preview for Android 7.1 about a month ago.

Now, Google has started pushing the 2nd Android 7.1 Nougat Developer Preview to owners of the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, and Pixel C. This update doesn’t bring any major changes so far, other than the addition of “New Professional Emoji”. These new emoji were already released for the Pixel and Pixel XL, but are now making their way to other devices.

Currently, Google has started pushing the OTA files to compatible devices, but if you are impatient, you can head over to the Google Developers page and download the files now. Additionally, if you aren’t already enrolled, you can enroll in Google’s Developer Preview program and begin receiving the latest versions of Android on your device.

If you choose to download and flash the files yourself, be sure to follow all the instructions to the “T”. This will ensure that your device won’t end up being bricked, and then you can enjoy anything Google has baked into Android 7.1 Nougat.
