Over the weekend, it was revealed that Verizon and Motorola had started rolling out the new Android 7.0 Nougat update to the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. While this brings many of the best features from the latest version of Android, it actually marks a first in the smartphone market.
These are the first smartphones from another manufacturer to be recognized by Google as Daydream-ready devices – a distinction given to phones that have been certified for the Daydream platform and are built for VR with high-resolution displays, ultra-smooth graphics and high-fidelity sensors for precise head tracking.
Now that the devices are receiving the update, this marks the first non-Pixel devices to be certified as “Daydream Ready”. With this ability, this means that the Moto Z and Moto Z Force can be used with the new Daydream View headset so that you can experience everything that Google has integrated into the latest version of Android.
