Instagram introduces Live Video to Stories [VIDEO]

It has been rumored for some time, but Instagram is finally rolling out Live Videos for your various Stories. Additionally, Instagram is releasing disappearing photos and videos for groups and friends within Instagram Direct.

Earlier this month, CEO Kevin Systrom confirmed that the move would be coming as it’s apparent Instagram is looking to take down Snapchat. At the time, there was no mention of when the implementation would begin occurring, but it seems as if today’s the day.

Speaking in terms of the new features, Live Video can be accessed by swiping right from your Instagram feed and tapping the “Start Live Video” button. Instagram is allowing videos to be streamed for up to an hour, and then they will disappear from the app once the video is ended. This feature will be rolled out gradually over the coming weeks.

As for disappearing photos and videos, Instagram states that Instagram Direct has grown in usage, from 80 million last year to 300 million people today. Creating these photos and videos is easy as you just need to swipe right and do whatever you want to. Once completed, you can select from your list of followers and send any of the photos and videos. This content will disappear from your friends Inbox as soon as it has been seen, but you will be notified of whether a message has been viewed or if a screenshot was taken.
