Huawei Mate 9 Pro unveiled with Porsche-like specs and a much more attractive price tag

Last week, Huawei introduced the Mate 9, and although it’s a nice phone, alongside it was a much sexier beast known as the Porsche Design Edition. It featured a Kirin 960 chipset that was used to power a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, 6GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, dual-rear 20-megapixel and 12MP cameras, and more.

The only problem was cost: it would set you back $1,316, which certainly doesn’t sound worth its makeup. Thankfully, it seems Huawei has plans to offer this tier of smartphone at a much more manageable price thanks to the introduction of the Mate 9 Pro.

The Mate 9 Pro shares most design traits and specs of the Huawei Mate 9 Pro, only the fancy Porsche name and design aren’t tacking hundreds of unnecessary dollars onto its price tag. Options start as low as $687 for a 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, and jumps to 6GB RAM, 128GB storage at $775. That’s more like it.

Unfortunately, Huawei still hasn’t confirmed whether this model will launch outside of China so you may have to settle for the base Mate 9 model, or simply import it if you really have your heart set on this one.
