ASUS is building a Tango phone of their own

0

Google and Lenovo launched the first Tango phone to warm reception earlier this month, though its lack of unavailability right now does sting for some. Thankfully it may not be long before we get more options.

ASUS has confirmed that they are working on a Tango phone. That much was confirmed by company CEO John Shen via DigiTimes.

A prospective name being pushed right now is ZenFone AR, and ASUS seemingly wants to stick to their strategy of offering affordable phones with premium features. We’re not sure what that would translate to in terms of device pricing, but considering the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro costs $499 it’s safe to say that’s the mark that will be undercut.

The only question is how low can they actually go without sacrificing other areas of the user experience. $200 is always their favorite baseline price, but their best models often creep into the $300 range. We’re going to predict $299, but it most certainly can’t surpass $399 if they want to steal thunder from Lenovo.

All told, we’re said to be getting more information in a couple of short months as ASUS has plans to stage a full unveiling at CES 2017.
