Huawei announced it has sold over 9 million Huawei P9 smartphones

Huawei is one of the fastest-growing smartphone manufacturers on the planet, finding itself poised just behind Samsung and Apple when it comes to the number of handsets sold across the globe. That’s mostly thanks to its massive Chinese market and the demand for its smartphones there, though Huawei’s efforts to push into the global market haven’t been without reward.

At an event in China earlier today, Huawei announced that its Huawei P9 smartphone has sold nine million handsets since the phone was unveiled in April of this year. That’s up three million from September when the company announced the device had reached six million in sales, meaning it sold three million devices in just two months.

That’s a pretty great feat for a mid-range smartphone, so it will be interesting to see how the upcoming Huawei Mate 9 performs, given that Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 is no longer in the picture. There’s a prime spot for Huawei to take advantage of the market that loves bigger phones but unfortunately, there’s no stylus included with the Mate 9.
