We’ve been hearing whispers out of China that seem to indicate that Lenovo is going to stop selling phones branded with its own name, instead assuming the Moto brand in the future. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard something similar, as rumblings back in September suggested that Lenovo is flirting with the idea of killing the Lenovo brand for smartphones.
GizmoChina is reporting that the Lenovo Mobile division will no longer be releasing phones under the Lenovo name. Instead, all smartphones will fall under the Moto brand and the Lenovo P2, which is slated to release on November 8th in China will be the last phone that features the Lenovo brand name.
The rumor has not been confirmed so take this with a grain of salt until Lenovo makes the announcement themselves, but it will be interesting to see what the Chinese company does with the Moto brand going forward, especially if it is no longer planning to release handsets under its own Lenovo name.
