Google plans on offering cheaper subscription plans for Android apps

Subscription apps have been available for a while now on Google Play, but until now developers have only been able to charge one price for their subscription service. At a new developer event today, Google revealed it has plans to change that for Android developers so they can offer introductory rates to their subscriptions for new customers.

This gives users the ability to try a service like Sling TV for a discounted rate for the first three months before returning to its normal price of $20 a month. Google says this is great for both consumers and developers because consumers will be able to try out a service at a reduced cost, while developers will no longer have to build payment infrastructure from scratch.

Once this rolls out, expect to start seeing discounts offered on subscription services like Hulu, Netflix, and more for first-time subscribers.
