AT&T has announced it will begin taking pre-orders for Samsung’s upcoming Gear S3 Frontier smartwatch on November 1st. This is the first 4G LTE connected smartwatch from Samsung and the more interesting of the two Gear S3 variants this year, in my opinion.
AT&T customers will be able to buy the device for $49.99 with a two-year contract attached and the purchase of a Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Otherwise, the device will run you $17.50 per month for 20 months as long as you keep your AT&T service.
AT&T makes a big deal about its NumberSync technology, which lets you make calls and send texts using the same number that’s attached to your smartphone. Additionally, AT&T says the new smartwatch will be able to act as a remote for your DirecTV receiver, allowing you to change channels and pause and rewind the programs you watch.
No mention is made of the Gear S3 Classic in the press release, so you’ll have to wait until November 18th to get your hands on the device through another retailer.
