The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 debacle is finally starting to fade into the background, but Samsung isn’t out of the woods yet. There are a lot of people still clinging to the Note 7 and other people who are now wary of Samsung devices. It will be important for Samsung to get Note 7 owners to finally ditch their devices and to retail the other customers. We’re already hearing about plans to do just that.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is going to be a very, very important device for Samsung. A lot will be riding on their ability to recover from the Note 7 with a great phone. In order to get kickstart the Galaxy S8, Samsung is rumored to offer some deep discounts for Samsung device owners. One rumor claims owners of the Note 7, Samsung Galaxy S7, or S7 Edge will be able to upgrade for free. A different rumor claims owners in South Korea will be able to trade in their S7 or S7 Edge for the new phone when they have paid off only 50% of it.
It’s clear that Samsung will be trying to get as many people as they can to switch from 7 to 8. Sadly, the “7” name, whether it’s Note or Galaxy S, has been tarnished by recent events. It’s best for Samsung to move on completely. We imagine many of you will be more than happy to upgrade.
