Huawei’s flagship “Mate” lineup of devices may be seeing two new additions in the near future. Rumors have started cropping up which suggest the Huawei Mate 9 won’t be the only new smartphone announced, as the Huawei Mate 9 Pro is also expected to arrive on the market.
VentureBeats is reporting that the devices will feature the same specs except for the displays. Both the Mate 9 (codenamed Manhattan) and the Mate 9 Pro (codenamed Long Island), will feature a 5.9-inch display, the HiSilicon Kirin 960 processor, 4GB of RAM, and will include storage options between 64GB and 256GB. Additionally, both devices are expected to feature 4x optical zoom and a dual-lens camera that was included on the Huawei P9.
The difference in displays comes in regards to the Mate 9 Pro possibly featuring a curved display, similar to the Galaxy S7 Edge. The Mate 9 Pro will also feature a 1440 x 2560 QHD display, while the Mate 9 will feature a FHD display. That’s not where the differences between these two devices stop, however, as only the Mate 9 Pro is also expected to be Daydream-ready.

You’re probably reading along thinking that the Mate 9 Pro is probably the way to go, but there may be a bit of a catch. @evleaks has revealed that the Mate 9 Pro may be priced at $1,300. That alone is enough to scare everyone away, but we’ll have to wait and see how everything plays out to see if Huawei follows through with this.
