GoPro Karma drone now available for purchase!
GoPro’s highly anticipated entry into the drone market is now complete: the GoPro Karma Drone is now available for sale at GoPro.com!
If you already own the Hero4 or you bought the Hero5 Black or Hero5 Session when it launched on October 2nd, you’ll only need to buy the Karma drone itself, which will set you back $800 bucks. If you’ve been patiently waiting (for a track to explode on), you’ll save a cool $100 bucks with the $1,100 Karma bundle that includes both the Karma drone and Hero5 Black.
Optional extras include:
- GoPro Care – $200
- 64GB MicroSD – $60 (cheaper on Amazon)
- GoPro Plus – $5/month (cloud backups of pics/vids)
The competition didn’t make it easy on GoPro: top drone maker DJI followed the Karma announcement by making their ultra-portable DJI Mavic Pro – which is so small it can fit in your pocket – available for pre-order. Both products target consumers who want a grab-and-go drone experience, but there isn’t a clear winner on paper, they’ve each got strengths and weaknesses.
