Japan always seems to get the cool stuff, and for the LG V20 that’s no different. The country is getting the LG V34, and as its name implies it shares a lot of the LG V20’s good qualities, only it takes things to a different level.
The first change may be an improvement or a detriment, depending on who you ask. The device shrinks from 5.5 inches to 5.2 inches, though it retains the same screen resolution. That’s just a matter of personal preference on display size (the smaller the better for yours truly).
But undeniably juicy for everyone is the addition of waterproofing. The LG V20 sadly does not have this trait, and it’s one we’d hoped to see with everyone else starting to emphasize the importance of durability for mobile devices these days.
Beyond those 2 things — and a slight change in camera configuration on the rear — the devices are the same, including the 3,000mAh battery despite differing display sizes. That means this LG V34 sports a Snapdragon 820 chipset, dual-rear camera, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, quad-DAC audio, a secondary display, and more.
Of course, this won’t mean much to anyone outside of Japan, so here’s hoping LG has plans to offer something similar elsewhere. Otherwise, the LG V20 is right around the corner.
