Galaxy-Note-7-review (13)

7 million would-be Galaxy Note 7 buyers could jump ship to iPhone; will you be one of them?

It’s no secret by now that Samsung took a huge blow with their Galaxy Note 7 situation. The amount blown on the ordeal has already exceeded $3 billion, and as we’d expected, it could hurt Samsung’s bottom line even more in the future.

The first word on the potential long-term fallout for Samsung comes from KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who estimates that anywhere from 5 to 7 million Galaxy Note 7 customers could convert over to Apple’s side for the iPhone 7 going forward. If estimates of 12 million lifetime Note 7 unit sales are accurate, that would mean Apple could potentially snag more than 50% of Samsung’s customers, with the rest being littered throughout various Android manufacturers.

Of course, that’s just an estimate, and there’s no current way to know if those figures would ever be reached. Samsung might even retain a good chunk of their customers and sell them Galaxy S7 devices instead, though we’re not so sure many will be willing to restore their trust in the South Korean company so easily.

Our biggest question goes to you, though: where are you going to land? Are you going to the dark side and checking out what Apple has to offer? If not, which Android phone will you get? Are you still on the Samsung train and willing to settle for the perfectly capable Galaxy S7 family or is it time to see what others have to offer? The floor is yours.
