Last week, we wrote about a rumor that claimed Amazon would be releasing a new music streaming service called “Amazon Music Unlimited.” Today, that service has become official. Music Unlimited is a compliment to Amazon’s Prime Music service. It’s not included in your Prime membership, but Prime members can get a discount.
Music Unlimited is geared to compete with Spotify, Apple Music, and Google Play Music. You get access to pretty much all the music you could possibly want for $10 per month. Prime members get it for $8 per month and Echo owners get it for $4 per month. Amazon will also offer a $15 family plan in the future. Prime Music only has over 2 million songs, but Amazon says Music Unlimited has “tens of millions of songs.”
Amazon redesigned its Music app for Android and other platforms for the launch of Music Unlimited. It can now work for both Prime and Unlimited users. Unlimited users get offline listening support. What do you think of Amazon’s new offering? Is it enough to sway you from your current streaming service?
