Project Fi now offers family plans for up to 6 people

Project Fi is a great service for the data conscious among us, as it allows you to only pay for the data you actually use. Up until now, it’s been limited to individual plans, but now Google has finally added the rumored family plans to the service.

The new group plans roll out today and you can add a total of six people to your plan. Each additional user to the plan will cost $15 a month, while the $10 per GB of data fee remains the same across all users. This new group plan also comes with plenty of safeguards to make sure you’re not going over with all those extra people, too.

There are new caps that you can place on specific group members to keep them from going over the cap that you allow. So for example, if you decide you only want your kids using 1GB of data from your plan, the cap will prevent them from using more than you specified.

The only catch here is that you’ll need to be a family of Nexus and Pixel users, as the service is only compatible with the new Pixel series and the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. To make things a little more enticing, Google has dropped the price of the Nexus 6P down to just $399 now that the new Pixel devices are on their way.
