The unlocked Moto Z is now available from Amazon, B&H, or directly from Motorola online
Lenovo and Verizon already announced — and subsequently launched — the Moto Z a good few months ago. Like most good smartphones these days, Verizon nabbed the exclusive, but only for a short time. After launching at the end of July on Verizon, the unlocked variant of the Moto Z (XT1650) is now officially available for purchase online through Amazon, B&H, and direct from Motorola.
Priced at $700 for the 64GB model, the Moto Z definitely is a bit on the expensive side. Keep in mind this is by the phone itself, without any of those pricey Moto Mods accessories — the most attractive thing about the phone. Also worth mentioning is this is the super thin Moto Z (the one with the 2,600mAh battery) — not the thicker Moto Z Force with the bigger battery, higher resolution camera, and unbreakable display — that’s still exclusive to Verizon and Verizon only.

The Moto Z finds itself going up against other fantastic Android prospects like the 5.5-inch Pixel XL or the much more affordably equipped OnePlus 3. Of course none of those devices offer the level of expansion the Moto Z does with it’s modular accessories, but you gotta be willing to dish out the cash.
