With Google’s Senior Vice President of Android comparing the company’s October 4th event to the initial launch of Android, Evan Blass has jumped into the mix, suggesting Andromeda is the reason Hiroshi Lockheimer is so excited. Blass did not include any details to support the claim, but Andromeda could justify the hype that Google is building for its launch event next week.

Andromeda will have a dramatic impact on the PC market, as the project is said to merge Android and Chrome OS into a single operating system. Laptops, tablets and desktop computers which run on Andromeda would have the app ecosystem that already exists for Android, but the OS would be much more powerful and flexible than Chrome OS.
But let’s keep in mind that Google is expected to unveil roughly a half dozen new hardware devices on October 4. We’re expecting two new Pixel phones, a Chromecast Ultra with 4K streaming capabilities, Google Home and a new Google Router. It’ll be the first time that Google shows off this many new products at a single event. Even is Andromeda doesn’t make an appearance, October 4th will still be a very important day in Google’s history.
