Based on the dozens or rumors and leaks we’ve reported on over the past few months, we know that Google is planning to unveil a handful of products on October 4th. In addition to two Pixel-branded phones, we’re also expecting Google Home (Google’s answer to Amazon Echo) and Chromecast Ultra which will allow users to stream content in 4K. While the launch of these new devices will be significant for Google, Hiroshi Lockheimer’s latest Tweet implies that Google may still have a few tricks up its sleeve.
We announced the 1st version of Android 8 years ago today. I have a feeling 8 years from now we'll be talking about Oct 4, 2016.

Comparing Google’s October 4th event to the launch of Android is quite bold. There are a few rumors floating around which claims that Google may finally be ready to show off “Andromeda” – the merging of Chrome OS and Android. Back in 2015, the Wall Street Journal reported that Google was working on a plan which would merge Android and Chrome by 2017. Publicly revealing Andromeda on October 4th would have a massive impact on Android and the future of the platform.
It would be nice if Google surprised us on October 4th with an announcement that none of us were expecting, but we highly doubt that will happen. If Andromeda is shown off next week, would you say its debut would have as much impact as the original launch of Android did?
