Stockton University becomes first to ban Galaxy Note 7 on its campus
New Jersey’s Stockton University has become the first school campus to ban use of the Galaxy Note 7 amid increasing safety concerns about the device. Samsung has issued a recall on the 2.5 million units that have been sold and several airlines and the FAA have advised against using the phone while in the air.
Pedro Santana, the Dean of Students at the university, says “we wanted to take a proactive measure and assure that the environment is safe and free from a potential fire.”
The ban went live yesterday at 5pm and students who own Galaxy Note 7’s were asked not to use them while on campus. Students were notified via email and social media and Santana says that the ban will not be lifted until recalled units have been safely replaced.
