Pandora launches “Pandora Plus” with subscriptions starting at just $5

Pandora’s like Rocky who just won’t go away and keeps throwing punches. Pandora has been around since 2000 (16 years and still going strong) and helped open the gateway for other music streaming services to come in and rake in the moolah.

One of Pandora’s biggest sticking points is that if you use the free version, you’ll end up running out of skips and will be stuck listening to songs you don’t want to. The company has announced plans to release a new subscription option named Pandora Plus which will help you skip any song without interruption. With Pandora Plus, you will have unlimited song skips and replays, making it easy to listen to what you want to, and to make your personalized radio station even better.

Additionally, Pandora is introducing an offline mode which will keep your songs playing even if you happen to lose network connectivity. Dubbed “predictive offline mode”, Pandora will download tracks in the background from your favorite radio stations and the app will let users know when this new mode is going to be activated. Regardless, your music will keep on playing until you get some network connectivity back.

Finally, Pandora has also announced some new changes for those who live and die by the free version. Users will now be able to view video ads and will gain more track skips or replays in return for the time spent watching. It may be a bit annoying, but it’s better than needing to switch radio stations whenever you run out of skips.

Pandora Plus will be launched in the next few months and will be priced at $4.99 per month. Although you can’t pick and choose which songs you want to play at any given moment, this is still half the price of other streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play Music.
