Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL may be the first US phones released with the Snapdragon 821

It’s always fun to see the different rumors come out for the devices that we are looking forward to the most. The Nexus ‘Sailfish’ (or Pixel) and Nexus ‘Marlin’ (or Pixel XL) are two of the most anticipated devices to be released for 2016 if you’re an Android nerd looking for the ultimate Google experience.

We started seeing rumors surrounding these devices crop up early in the year, and the rumors are on a full head of steam leading up to the possible release next month. The latest rumor is surrounding the processor that Google/HTC will be including and this may be one that surprises some.

The rumor suggests that the Pixel and Pixel XL will both be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. Qualcomm unveiled the latest mobile processor back in July and promises to bring at least a 10% performance boost when compared to the current Snapdragon 820 that is powering many flagships that have already been released.

What makes this rumor so important is that it seems that Google isn’t playing the conservative game any longer. Instead, it seems that Google is looking to be innovative as these devices would be the first smartphones released in the US that would be powered by the Snapdragon 821.

Personally, I’m excited to see Google lead the way in regards to anything instead of just settling for the middle of the road. Let us know what you think about the possible changes coming to Google’s Pixel/Nexus devices in the comments below.
