Google is turning its Maps application into a one-stop shop for all of your travel needs. Last year, the company added the ability to view different ride-sharing services, including Uber, to the app so you don’t need to switch between different apps to get a fare estimate.
Today, we’re adding two more partners in the U.S., Lyft and Gett. Now Google Maps will display options from 9 ride-sharing partners in over 60 countries, allowing you to compare the fastest, most affordable ride near you, without having to download and open multiple apps.
As of today, Google has added 9 more ride-sharing partners to the list, including Lyft across the US, and Gett for those in New York City. The best part is, you don’t have to download an update to be able to start using this feature. It seems that the integration was a server-side switch which has been turned on, so the next time you start Google Maps, Lyft and Gett will join Uber as various options within the app.
