Pixel phone retail launch rumored for October 20

The latest details regarding the launch of the Pixel phone indicates that the device’s retail launch date could be set for October 20. A new report out of Australia claims that Telstra is planning to start taking pre-orders of the Pixel (there’s no mention of the larger Pixel XL) on October 4, with a retail launch date scheduled two and a half weeks later on October 20. There’s no guarantee, but we will likely see pre-order and retail launch dates in the US and Europe match up with Telstra’s October 4 and October 20 dates.

Telstra is also said to be devoting special attention to the launch of Google’s Pixel phone, planning to give it the same launch treatment as an iPhone launch. We saw service providers give the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P a decent treatment last year, but Google likely hoping to make a big splash this year since the Pixel and Pixel XL will be the first smartphones launching with the Pixel name.

Are you willing to wait around until the end of October to get your hands on either of the HTC-built Pixel phones?
