IFA 2016 is slated to start next week, and all that means is that we have another week of leaks and rumors that are going to start coming in full force ahead of the event. Sony has already been subjected to a few of these rumors, with the latest showing off a return to the “Compact” lineup that has been a fan favorite.

Evan Blass (@evleaks) took to twitter to show everyone an image of a new Sony device with the title of “Sony Xperia X Compact”. When Sony unveiled its Xperia X lineup, there was no mention made of a “compact” edition, although it has become a fan favorite due to its smaller size. This looks to be the re-emergence of that line of products, and adds yet another device to the Xperia X lineup.
As for what specs can be expected, there’s not much else known, but we can conclude that it will be smaller than the Sony Xperia XA, which already measures in at 5.2-inches. If Sony keeps the Xperia X Compact in line with its predecessors, we can assume that the display will come in at about 4.6-inches or so.
Questionably and notably, the time and date widget is blurred from this image, which more than likely reveals the date of release for the device. Sony will be holding its IFA 2016 event on September 1st, so that will be when all the Sony fans can get together and see what’s in store for the 2016 Holiday season.
