YouTube tests video thumbnails that begin playing on mouseover

0

YouTube’s main website is constantly evolving, adding new features and small UI tweaks every few weeks it seems. As spotted by someone on Twitter, it appears YouTube is now testing a new feature where video thumbnails begin playing their content on mouseover. It’s a handy feature, something you’ve probably come across on other… ummm… video streaming sites, and an extremely convenient way to peek inside a video and see if it’s really worth your click.

So far, we haven’t come across anyone else who’s seeing the new feature activated for them and although it’s possible for A/B testing features like this to never see the light of day, we’ll keep our fingers crossed on this one. Although not technically “Android related,” it’s an interesting tidbit none-the-less. Anyone else seeing this yet on YouTube?

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.
