I have a feeling that Google is getting ready to unveil something big alongside the release of Android 7.0 Nougat. We are already expecting to see the final iteration of Google Assistant, which was unveiled at Google I/O 2016, but we are continuing to see new leaks and features being rolled out to select users. The last week or two have been a leak-a-palooza for Google, its software, and the upcoming Nexus devices, and we might not be done just yet. There have even been a few new features rolled into Google Now itself, including the “Explore Interests” cards.
The latest set of changes is the addition of a “Dashboard” option found within Google Now. Currently when opening Google Now, you aren’t presented with any options other than the hamburger menu in the top left hand corner. However, a few screenshots have surfaced which show two selections at the bottom of the display. On the left, we see a “G” for the Home aspect, which presumably will take you back to the main Google Now screen when selected, while on the right is a new “Dashboard” option.

According to Android Police, this new Dashboard only works with those using the Nexus Launcher and “collects data from across the different Google services and pools them all in the tab.” This means that we could soon have a place to access all of our to-do lists, calendar events, and emails from a single destination.
Google Now already displays relevant information, but only if the events are coming up, or a task is due soon, other than that we have to rely on opening the different apps to access the information. As for what the Dashboard will include, one of the folks who received this server-side update, states that it contains information from Google services such as the Calendar and reminders entered into Google Keep.
We are inching closer to the release of not only Android Nougat, but also the unveiling of the 2016 devices. It’s probable that this new feature is tied to the Nexus Launcher, but we’ll have to wait and see when the final product is shown off later this year.
