It was back in June, during their big Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple announced they were going back to the drawing board with Apple Music, redesigning the app entirely from the ground up with an entirely new UI. Today, Apple Music is dropping its beta status, officially landing in the Google Play Store as version 1.0.0. The new UI we saw at WWDC is, unfortunately, nowhere to be found but there are some other changes.
Apple has added an equalizer setting to fine tune the audio to your tastes, and “a variety of performance, playback, and stability improvements.” Apple Music originally launched for Android back toward the tail end of last year, but it’s confusing UI didn’t pose much of a threat to music streaming staples like Spotify or Google Play Music.
With pricing plans that fall in line with what everyone else is already offering (individual for $9.99, family plan for $14.99, and student plan for $4.99), Apple Music needs to do something quick if they hope to win over music streamers. That fresh coat of paint they’ve been promising can’t come soon enough.
