Pokémon GO update fixes the ‘footprints’ glitch, by removing the feature altogether

While we aren’t sure how many of you are still playing Pokémon GO, there has been a new update that has “fixed” a really annoying bug. One of the easiest ways to tell which Pokémon were closest to you was via the “Nearby” pop-up menu by viewing the number of ‘footprints’. A few weeks back this feature was compromised and has yet to be fixed, until today.

Niantic has pushed an update to the popular app which sorta fixes the footprints glitch, and by sorta, we mean they removed the feature altogether. Now when you pull up the Nearby menu, you will be able to see which Pokémon are closest, but you will have no bearing on which direction to go. This isn’t the greatest “fix” ever, and hopefully Niantic can get it together and bring the footprints back, because who wants to walk around aimlessly with the hope that a Pidgey will magically appear.

What’s New:

In addition to the footprints glitch fix, the update to Pokémon GO also includes a few other new features including a new warning to warn users to not trespass or drive while playing the game. You can also now customize your trainer after the setup screen, making it easy to change up your apparel to better match which team you are a part of.

Many of the aforementioned changes are minor or “under the hood” including a “nerf” for the damage values of certain Pokémon, which should balance some Gym battles out a bit. Finally, the other big change to the app is the addition of a Floating Action Button (FAB) which appears while viewing your Pokémon and gives users access to a sub-menu that includes “favorite” and “transfer”.

The update is already rolling out, but as with most other things surrounding Pokémon GO, things are moving rather slowly. So just be patient and hold out for the update to hit your phones. In the mean time, let us know what your “best” Pokémon is along with some screenshots of your current Pokédex.
