It’s been well-rumored that the next iteration in Samsung’s Galaxy Note lineup would jump from the Note 5, all the way to the Note 7. It’s an unusual move, but Samsung is confirming the new name — the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 — in an invite current being sent out to press. Here’s a brief explanation they’ve also provided in a blog post:
“First and foremost though, you might be curious as to why it’s called Galaxy Note7 instead of Galaxy Note6. There are a couple reasons why. First, the Galaxy Note7 will complement our Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, and unify our product portfolio. Second, the Galaxy Note7 will minimize confusion about the latest mobile technology from Samsung, and provide full alignment with Galaxy S smartphone.”
The main event is being held in NYC (as usual), with simultaneous satellite events taking place in Rio de Janeiro 12PM and London at 4PM. For those that can’t make it, Samsung will be live streaming the event on their website www.samsung.com.
