Samsung is now selling unlocked Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge devices in the US

Samsung today announced the availability of unlocked models for both the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge in the US. While it’s been possible to get unlocked devices from third-party sellers in the US, there are a couple of reasons why today’s announcement is great.

For starters, the heightened cost of buying an unlocked model in the US may be eliminated with the direct sale of it from Samsung. Their price may still be higher than the various eBay or Amazon deals you’ll find, but it should result in even lower prices down the line.

Secondly, this unlocked model works not only on GSM carriers but even CDMA carriers such as Verizon and AT&T. As sad as it may be, that’s still considered to be an anomaly in the American market, with only a few devices over the years having gotten away with that. Such is the privilege of a big company like Samsung, we suppose.

Anywho, if you want one then you can grab them directly through Samsung or from Amazon, Best Buy, eBay, Sam’s Club, and Target. The Samsung Galaxy S7 will run you $669.99, while the S7 Edge is going for $769.99.
