We’d be lying if we said we were shocked Samsung is planning to come out with a new flagship smartwatch this year. That much is obvious, with the company having been one of the first major brands to hop onto the smartwatch train.
We’d also be lying if we said we were shocked if it were going to be round, what with that form factor being all the rage again. We’d transform into Picchonio if we were to tell you we thought Samsung would go with any operating system other than Tizen. It’s not like they’re trying to ditch Android every way they can, after all.
Obviously, none of that stuff coming out of the latest rumor from SamMobile surprises. According to them, Samsung is hard at work on their next flagship smartwatch which has all the good qualities mentioned above. It’s codenamed Solis, which stands for “sun” in some languages — that’s a big hint as to what its shape should be.
The rumor also suggests as many as 5 different models of it are in the works:
It’s likely many of these are either premium alternatives or carrier-specific LTE-equipped models, however nothing is for certain this early. But with model numbers and codenames out, it’s time to start digging for more. Stay tuned!
