The OnePlus 3 is not scheduled to be unveiled until June 15, but the company will be selling 1,000 units of the yet-unannounced smartphone for 2,999 Yuan ($455 USD) on June 6. The phones will ship on June 15, after the OnePlus 3 is officially announced. Since we are expecting the base model to sell for 2299 Yuan, the device in question is likely the more expensive variant of the OnePlus 3 which should come with 6GB of RAM. Since 2,999 Yuan is likely more than what the final price of the phone, OnePlus is promising that the 1,000 buyers will be refunded the difference once the final price is announced.
While it may be exciting to be one of the first 1,000 people on the planet to get your hands on the OnePlus 3, the fire sale is nothing more than a marketing scheme to get more people talking about the phone before its launch. Do you think this tactic is better than some of the other marketing ideas OnePlus has had over the past few years?
