Google Chromebooks

Acer Chromebook 14 and Chromebook 11 (2016) now available on the Google Store

With the Google Play Store making its way to Chromebooks — bringing with it all the Android apps therein — you probably have your sights set on a new Chromebook. The problem is, not all Chromebooks will be getting this must-have new feature. While you could always go through and check our full list of Google Play Store compatible Chromebooks, you can also shop easy by buying directly from Google.

Arriving on the Google Store today, Google has added both the Acer Chromebook 14 and the Acer Chromebook 11 (2016), two new Chromebooks you can rest assured will gain access to the Play Store whenever it goes live for Chrome OS. Both are relatively affordable, with the 14 clearly being the more premium of the two (it’s also almost double the price of the 11).

Priced at $300, the Acer Chromebook 14 offers a 14-inch 1080p display, 4GB RAM, 32GB of internal storage, quad-core Intel Celeron N3160 processor, and metal construction.

The Acer Chromebook 11 (2016) refresh on the other hand is only $180 and has an 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 resolution display, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a dual-core Intel Celeron N2840.

One thing to keep in mind is that neither of these have any sort of touchscreen functionality, something you might be interested in with the impending release of Android apps on these laptops. Of course, it’s not necessary, but it would be nice to have just in case.
