Samsung Gear Fit 2

Official: Samsung Gear Fit 2 and Gear IconX wireless earbuds features, pricing, and release dates

Although not everyone is convinced they need a smartwatch or activity tracker in their life, wearable technology is still a big focus for manufacturers. When it comes to Samsung’s 2016 device portfolio — which covers just about every electronic device imaginable — they’re hoping their latest line of wearables will finally catch your attention.

Last month we got a glimpse of two of Samsung’s upcoming devices (from their own website no less) — the Samsung Gear Fit 2 and Samsung Gear IconX wireless earbuds — but it’s only today that they’ve finally been made official. Since everything was pretty much leaked ahead of time, there are no real surprises.

The Gear Fit 2 is a followup to the original Gear Fit and outfits the activity tracker with a gorgeous 1.5-inch curved AMOLED display, dedicated GPS, heart rate monitor, and 4GB of storage for your music. Depending on use, Samsung says the Gear Fit 2 should deliver between 3-4 days of battery life with up to 5 days of standby time.

The Gear IconX are true wireless earbuds, each coming with their own batteries to power each bud. Where things get interesting is that they also have 4GB of internal storage for storing music, and are capable of tracking physical activity like distance, speeds, heart rate, and calories burned. Needless to say, they’re the perfect workout companion.

Battery life is said to be around 2 hours depending on use (you’ll get more mileage by listening to music stored on the earbuds themselves, obviously).

Of course, each of these new wearables can be synced up with Samsung’s own S Health app to keep track of your progress. Samsung says the Gear Fit 2 will be available on June 10th for $179, while the Gear IconX goes on sale sometime in July for $199.
