Nowadays, if you’re hungry you just open the fridge or head to your local grocery store. It wasn’t that easy for early humans. In “Big Hunter” you have to hunt down mammoths to feed your starving tribe. It’s a beautifully designed and addictive game. Each day (level) brings new challenges to the table.

Your weapon of choice is the trusty spear. Hitting the mammoth with the spear requires a combination of power and accuracy. Throwing a spear is basically the same as slinging an Angry Bird. Just pull back and aim. But the mammoth isn’t going to sit there and let you hit him. He’s very mad and charging right at you. Holding your finger down allows you to backpedal away.

The mammoth’s health is indicated in the upper right corner. It changes depending on the size of the beast. There are three ways in which the game makes it even more difficult to take down the mammoth.

Timer – you’re given a certain amount of time to take down the mammoth
Limited spears – you’re given a certain amount of spears to use
Weak points – hit specific targets on the mammoth

Each hit takes away health from the mammoth, and there are two ways to make your hits do more damage. Hitting the mammoth on the head is always worth more. Stringing together multiple hits in a row acts as a multiplier on top. Sometimes it’s more important to hit the mammoth with every shot than to get headshots.
