The FCC fined a Florida man $48K for continued cell phone jammer use in 2014
In 2014, news reports came out that the FCC had tracked down a Florida man by the name of Jason R. Humphreys who had been using a cell phone jammer for 16 to 24 months while commuting to and from work on a Florida highway. Today, the FCC has officially filed charges against Humphrey to the sound of 48 thousand dollars.
Humphreys went on record when he was arrested that he was jamming drivers due to the fact that Florida does not have any laws banning drivers from talking their phones while driving — only texting.
While he was trying to do a public service for everyone driving on the roads around him, the FCC has strict rules against interfering with cellular networks because they also interfere with the networks that emergency services use.
