Sprint to kill off contracts for new customers on May 24

If you’re planning on making the switch to Sprint’s network, you will no longer have the option of choosing a two-year contract once May 24 rolls around. Any new customers switching to Sprint will need to pay full price for a phone or take advantage of Sprint’s financing or leasing options. A leaked document shows that Sprint’s two-year contracts will no longer be offered to new customers, but the company is planning to keep them around for existing customers looking to upgrade their phones or add additional lines to their accounts.

We’re not sure how much longer Sprint will be offering contract options to existing customers. While buying a phone without a contract is typically the better option, we can understand the appeal of getting a $400 to $500 upfront discount on a new phone and paying a slightly higher monthly bill.

Do you miss the days when you could walk into a store and buy a new flagship smartphone for only $200?
