The Samsung Charm is a $40 life-tracking wearable for people who hate smartwatches

As tech enthusiasts, we know that full-fledged smartwatches can be pretty great at showing you tons of information at a glance, but for some folks, fitness tracking is all they really need or want from a wearable. Samsung is hoping to tap into this market with a new wearable for the ladies, aimed at helping women stay on top of their fitness goals.

It’s called the Samsung Charm and although any gender could wear one, it definitely seems to have a much more feminine design to it depending on your tastes. Available in 3 stylish colors — Gold, Black and Rose Quartz — the Charm features a tiny pebble-like pedometer (for tracking steps, not telling you the likelihood of someone being a… um, never mind) that connects to your smartphone using Bluetooth.

Using the “Charm by Samsung” app, users will be able to track how many steps they’ve taken throughout the day, distance covered, and calories burned. Charm can also notify users of incoming calls, texts, and other notifications, all functions that can be configured using the app. Of course, you can expect full compatibility with Samsung’s S Health app.

With 14-day battery life and a low-asking price of $40, Charm by Samsung could be the perfect fit for those that don’t need all the extra frills of an actual smartwatch (even, you know… like telling the actual time). Apparently it’s already been available in South Korea, Italy, France and Russia, but Samsung says you’ll be seeing it in new markets later this year.
