YouTube begins testing new app that makes it easy to create and upload videos

There is a ton of work that goes into creating a video, editing it then putting it on YouTube to share with the world. The whole process takes at least a few hours and can be grueling, but it seems that YouTube is working on a solution that will allow users to more easily edit videos straight from their mobile devices.

There’s already an app available for both Android and iOS known as YouTube Creator Studio, but that application only allows users to to manage the analytics of their channels, along with the ability to interact with subscribers through comments. While Google does have an app for iOS called YouTube Capture, it appears to have been abandoned as no work has been done on the app since 2013.

Today, we received a tip that YouTube has begun beta testing a video creation app. It doesn’t sound like an update to YouTube Creator, instead the wording of the email makes it sound more like a completely separate application that won’t be included within any of YouTube’s existing apps on Google Play or the App Store. The app will make use video templates so that most of the leg work will already be done for the user without requiring too much in terms of actual editing.

It’s not yet known what kind of editing features are being included within the application (sign ups have just begun), but according to the email going out to testers, it will be easy to record a video, submit it and get it published on YouTube in a just few simple steps. It does appear that it will be geared toward businesses, but YouTube says anyone can use it to easily create great looking videos with minimal effort.

We do know that the application is only being tested on iOS at this time and with no plans for Android mentioned. It’s possible that YouTube could launch an Android version in Play Store, but video editing apps are few and far between on Android. If nothing else, this could be the long awaited update to YouTube Capture content creators on iOS have been waiting for, but that still remains to be seen.

As more information becomes available, we’ll be sure to share it with you.
