If you didn’t know, the HTC 10 comes with support for Apple’s AirPlay protocol which lets you beam audio and video to devices like Apple TV or an AirPlay speaker system. It’s something that only Apple products typically support, so it was a bit of a surprise.
But those on HTC’s older flagships will be delighted to hear that they’ll be able to beam content to AirPlay devices, too. The company is updating the HTC Connect app with that functionality. Of course, by now you’ve probably already settled on a different multimedia streaming setup so its arrival may be too late, but if you have an Apple TV or other AirPlay devices in your home it offers nice flexibility.
“What kind of Android user would have an Apple product,” you ask? Lots, actually. Some might not get into the fanboyism that often accompanies the smartphone wars and have a variety of different products from different companies in their home.
And even if they do wave the fanboy flag proudly, there is the possibility that someone else in their household has an Apple TV or some other device. That’s why we love the fact that HTC has done this: support ALL the things, no matter who makes it. Grab the download here if you’re interested.
