With the Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5 out of the way, we now have our sights turned toward upcoming flagships from HTC and Motorola. The HTC 10 is on track for an April 12th reveal, just around the corner. Motorola, on the other hand, typically gets a later start than other OEMs, revealing their shiny new handsets sometime around the summer. So far, we know nothing. But a new leak from hellomotoHK — who’s done a great job at providing reliable leaks in the past — could be giving us our first ever glimpse at the phone.
Like Motorola leaks before it, the phone appears to have been spotted in the wild, showing the familiar Motorola branding on the front indicating a pre-production unit. If there was any question Motorola would be jumping on the fingerprint bandwagon, the phone also has a button on the front, presumably for a fingerprint sensor. It’s tough to make out, but it seems the inclusion of a front facing fingerprint sensor could see Motorola ditching stereo front facing speakers, something we’ve enjoyed since the Moto X 2nd Gen, 3rd Gen, and Nexus 6.
Of course, opinions on which is position is better — front or rear facing fingerprint sensor — will differ, but we’ll let you debate that in the comments (I happen to prefer a front facing button for easy unlocking without having to pick up the phone). As we near the phone’s release, we expect more leaks like this will start coming out from the woodwork. Stay tuned.
