Facebook today announced some nice upgrades to their live video platform Facebook Live. It’s Facebook’s version of Periscope, if you haven’t heard, and with this update they could be looking to kill that line of thinking and become your new Periscope.
The company is introducing a lot of great new features today that makes it a rock solid live video platform:
- Replay Comments: You can see the comments that came in while a broadcast was live, so you don’t have to miss out on all the interaction that took place.
- Reactions: Just like with other Facebook posts, you can now react to something during a live stream with a Like, a Heart or any of the other reactions Facebook recently launched.
- Going Live for Groups and Events: You can choose to go live within a Group or Event page, so only the people in those groups or invited to those events will see the stream.
- Better discovery: Invite friends to watch with you, discover new live feeds with a dedicated tab in the Facebook app, and look at a globe to find new streams.
Huge changes for sure, folks, and something that’s sure to heat this live video race up even more than it already was. Be on the lookout for app updates and changes to the web version of Facebook today.
