Kantar has another report for us today. The company has released the smartphone sales market share for the 3 months ending February 29th. After a holiday season where Android mopped the floor with everyone, our beloved mobile OS is turning in another strong performance.
Android was responsible for nearly 60% of the smartphone sales in the United States. Meanwhile, Apple fell to 38%, and Windows phone is on life support at 2.6%. Elsewhere — in top European countries and China, to be specific — Android averaged about 75% of the mobile sales.
The most startling thing about these numbers? The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, LG G5, and all the other flagships set to launch this year weren’t even available yet. With some of the best and most innovative Android phones ever landing this year we wouldn’t be surprised if Android’s numbers increased even further from here on out. Apple will have a bit to say about that thanks to the launch of the iPhone SE, of course, but we can’t imagine a small iPhone is going to knock Android off the blazing path it’s been on for years now.
