LG’s newest wireless charging chip can give up to 50% battery life in just 30 minutes
LG Innotek, one of LG’s subsidiaries, today announced a nice breakthrough in wireless charging technology. The company has developed a 15-watt wireless charging transmitter, a mark that’s 3 times higher than typical wireless chargers. They claim that it can take a typical smartphone to 50% from a fully depleted state in just 30 minutes.
What’s more exciting is that the technology is fully compatible with multiple wireless charging standards, including those by the Wireless Power Consortium and AirFuel, the alliance between PMA and A4WP.
LG Innotek says they’ll start mass producing the goods later this year, after which they’ll likely begin distribution to partners like Motorola, Kyocera, and — of course — their big brother known as LG Electronics.
